JASPER, Ind. – VMware, Inc., a leader in virtualization and cloud management, along with Indiana GigaPOP and Matrix Integration, announce the availability of a statewide end-user licensing agreement for educational institutions in Indiana. This agreement allows for both public and private K-12 and higher educational institutions in the state to qualify for deeply discounted VMware license and production support from Matrix Integration, a leading technology solutions and services provider based in Jasper, Ind.
“Schools are depending more and more on technology – in the classroom, for communication between staff and parents, and for administration,” said Brenda Stallings, president of Matrix Integration, who was listed in CRN Magazine’s “Power 100 Women of the Channel” which honors the most influential women in IT. “As an Indiana-based business with long-term experience in the education market, I wanted Matrix Integration to help strengthen our schools and be a leader in where the industry is heading – virtualization and cloud management. In the long run, it will help our schools reduce their IT infrastructure costs while increasing the efficiency, utilization and flexibility of their existing assets.”
As part of the agreement, educational institutions can save a minimum of 29 percent off academic retail. The License/Support and Subscription (SnS) are bundled and the SnS level for each purchase is Production Support (24/7/365). All VMware products, with no pre-defined quantities, are eligible on the agreement.
Matrix-Implemented VMware Solutions Already In Action
Several educational institutions have already taken advantage of the aggressively reduced licensing agreements for VMware by Matrix Integration, including Indiana University and members of I-Light, a high-speed fiber optic network provider, connecting Indiana colleges and universities to state, national, and international research and education communities.
“The service and reduced pricing from Matrix Integration will provide us with major cost savings, while providing better support for our users,” said John A. Weakley, director of system infrastructure at Indiana University. “The agreement also allows us to strengthen our partnership with VMware and Matrix Integration, a valued supplier to Indiana University and UITS Enterprise Infrastructure team.”
Marianne Chitwood, director of I-Light Network, agreed.
“Virtualization continues to rapidly transform IT, particularly in education,” said Chitwood. “Virtualizing the IT infrastructure will help Indiana educational institutions improve operational efficiencies, decrease downtime, and aid in disaster recovery, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
