Hundreds Of State University Faculty Turn Out For Protest Over Contract Dispute

State university faculty came by the busloads from all four corners of the state to protest the stalled talks that have left them working without a contract for more than a year and a half.

More than 500 strong marched back and forth in front of Dixon University Center in Harrisburg in a show of solidarity as members of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education board of governors gathered inside for their quarterly meeting.

The faculty union has been negotiating with system managers for over two years.

They have found common ground on salary increases that provide for across-the-board raises of zero percent the first year, 1 percent in each the second and third years and 2 percent the fourth year. But changes to the faculty’s health care remains the biggest area of disagreement.
