How To Fund Grand Rapids Community College Repairs After Failed Vote? Board Member Suggests Tuition Increase

Now comes the hard part.

A day after West Michigan voters overwhelmingly defeated Grand Rapids Community College’s $98.6 million bond proposal, college administrators said they’re ready to begin examining how they can fund what they say are much needed campus repairs.

“We have never not had a Plan B quite frankly, and so we’ll be talking to our board about some of our best thinking about some strategies to raise revenue to address some pretty significant deferred maintenance needs we have on campus,” said GRCC President Steven Ender.

He declined to elaborate on what those strategies are, saying more information will become available later this month as discussions with the board take place.
