Housatonic Community College says a security breach has exposed about 87,000 records of confidential faculty, staff and student data to potential misuse.
Two computers at the college became infected with a type of malware, which is software intended to disrupt computer operations, gather sensitive information or gain unauthorized access to computer. As a result, files were potentially exposed to unauthorized access.
The college says the files contained names, addresses, dates of birth and Social Security numbers.
