An animal rights group has asked the federal government to investigate Princeton University's treatment of animals in the Ivy League school's research labs.
The complaint announced today by Stop Animal Exploitation Now! was sent to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and focuses on monkeys being used in neuroscience research. The group says a person who worked at Princeton supplied it with photos showing abuse.
USDA spokesman David Sacks said the agency will send an inspector to the labs. The agency generally conducts inspections when it receives complaints.
Princeton officials did not comment on the complaint.
