Living in an apartment just off campus, Erin Mruz wasn’t really eager to drop $165 this semester on a parking permit so she could drive her Jeep to class at Grand Valley State University.
But it was still a little far to walk. Lucky for her, the university introduced a new option for students around campus this semester by rolling out a bicycle rental program in Allendale and at the Pew Campus in downtown Grand Rapids.
“It’s a really great option for me,” said Mruz, a clinical exercise science major from Indiana who is also a senior midfielder on the Laker women’s soccer team.
“Plus, I like the green movement, and the ability to save money on gas while not burning fossil fuels is a good thing.”
