Grand Rapids Community College leaders say they've surpassed their $15 million goal to renovate buildings on two campuses.

The college is renaming one of the renovated buildings, Warren Hall on the DeVos Campus, after Stewart Edward White Hall, a writer whose lumber baron father, T. Stewart White, built the converted home in 1907.

GRCC President Steven Ender announced today that the college's foundation has raised $15,277,779 during the 18-month fundraising drive, which was headed by Hank Meijer, GRCC Foundation board chairman Dave Custer and foundation executive director Andy Bowne.

“Even in these tough economic times, our leadership challenged us to raise $15 million to fund these capital projects in response to our community’s growing needs for affordable, high quality college education,” Ender said in a release. “The success of these fundraising efforts by all of the individuals involved means we will be able to better serve our students and fulfill the college’s mission.”
