First UNI President Finalist Announced

The president of a mid-sized public university in Pennsylvania known for its teacher education program will be the first University of Northern Iowa presidential finalist to visit campus.

William Ruud, president of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, is scheduled to attend a public forum at 3 p.m. Monday at Maucker Union on the UNI campus in Cedar Falls.

During Ruud’s five-year tenure, Shippensburg University has seen increased enrollment, a double-digit jump in applications and maintained some of the highest graduation rates in the state, according a biography posted by UNI.

Shippensburg University, with about 8,300 students, was founded as a teachers college.
