Ferris State, Looking To Boost Its Profile In China, Hires Well-Known Michigan Consultant

Ferris State University is looking to expand its footprint in China.

As the number of international students studying at U.S. colleges and universities grows, Ferris wants to further boost recruitment in China and forge relationships with higher education institutions there.

“In this age of globalization, we felt it was extremely important to expose more of our faculty and students to the rest of the world,” said Donald Green, vice president for extended and international operations at Ferris.

To help, the university has hired Don Newport, the former president of Alpena Community College and an expert on education in China, as an adviser.
