Economic Report: Michigan State U, U-Michigan, Wayne State Critical To Michigan's Economic Revitalization

An economic impact report says three of Michigan's universities are at the forefront of the state's economic resurgence.

The University Research Corridor -- an alliance between Michigan State University, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University -- continues to grow in areas critical to the state’s resurgence, according to the Anderson Economic Group’s 2011 Empowering Michigan Economic Impact Report.

Those critical areas include: student enrollment, degrees granted in high-tech and high-demand sectors, number of alumni living in the state contributing to the state’s economy through wages and taxes, research and development expenditures and startup companies.

The University Research Corridor commissioned the report.
