Construction will break ground next month on the new Public Safety Institute building at Eastern Florida State College’s Melbourne Campus.
The college’s board of trustees approved construction of the $14 million project at their meeting Monday morning. State lawmakers have already approved the money, which includes $13.2 million for construction and $800,000 for furnishings and equipment.
College leaders see the building as a first in a series of possible expansions that they believe will make the Melbourne campus the college’s flagship location. The college has submitted three other building projects to state lawmakers for possible funding.
