A capacity crowd of about 5,000 is expected tonight to hear Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan at Elmore Gym at Alabama A&M University.

Farrakhan's appearance, which has been opposed by religious groups in Huntsville, is also set to be broadcast live on the Internet on Farrakhan's website finalcall.com. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

The Alabama A&M administration has also distanced itself from Farrakhan's visit, which resulted from an invitation by the Alabama A&M Poetry Club and the Alabama A&M Democrats.

The Alabama A&M Democrats have no connection or affiliation with the state or local Democratic Party, but both groups still issued statements distancing themselves from Farrakhan's visit.
