DePauw University has been waiting for a new dining hall for two years. After receiving a $25 million gift from two of its alumni, the wait is just about over.

President Brian W. Casey announced Thursday that the university had received $25 million from R. David and Suzanne A. Hoover to build the university’s dining hall, which was approved by the Board of Trustees in October 2010 as part of the Campus Master Plan.

“On behalf the students, faculty and alumni of DePauw University, I extend my deepest gratitude to Dave and Suzanne for this gift, and for what it will mean to this campus,” President Brian W. Casey said in a news release. “Their love for DePauw is palpable and their passion for its future is unmatched.”

In honor of the couple’s contribution, the new dining hall is to be named R. David and Suzanne A. Hoover Hall. It will be in the main area of campus between the Union Building and Burkhart Walk and serve as the main dining hall for students living on campus.
