Cutting two-year college tuition by half is 'absolutely a real goal,' chancellor says

Make no mistake, Alabama's community college system is a more affordable option for students seeking access to education that can lead to lucrative, technical careers or set them on a track to a higher degree.

With tuition set at $111 per credit hour, in-state students taking 12 hours a semester pay just $3,360 a year for tuition and fees compared to the statewide median tuition of $8,275 a year at four-year schools, according to reports by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.
