County plan may help fund Greenville Technical College's $25M manufacturing campus

Greenville County has found a way to fund the construction of a manufacturing training and business incubator campus in partnership with Greenville Technical College without relying on a countywide tax increase that could have killed the project.

County Administrator Joe Kernell said the county should have about $3.6 million in its fund balance over its budgeted projections, enough to front-load debt service payments until some of Greenville Tech’s existing capital debts are paid off by 2018 and the balance of construction costs of the proposed $25 million enterprise campus can be transitioned into the school’s existing funding sources.
