A former Connecticut state representative has been named chairman of the board overseeing the state's 12 community-technical colleges.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Friday that Naomi Cohen will lead the colleges' board of trustees through Dec. 31, 2011.
After that, the newly created state Board of Regents of Higher Education will manage the community colleges along with Central, Eastern, Western and Southern Connecticut State universities.
Cohen lives in Bloomfield and was a state representative from 1987 to 1991, including time as co-chairman of the legislature's education committee.
