Columbia College merges marketing, admissions and enrollment

Columbia College announced Monday that it is merging its enrollment, marketing and admissions departments, and the new Enrollment and Marketing Department will be led by Kevin Palmer, former chief information officer and vice president of information technology.

“We’ve done a process analysis and noticed that customer-facing, or student-facing, processes are difficult to navigate,” Palmer said about the college’s online system for students to enroll in classes, pay their bills and deal with financial aid, among other things.

He said his team will be looking at why the college does what it does. Some reasons are regulatory, but others are “because that’s how we’ve always done it.” The merger will save costs, he said, though “it’s not just about dollars and cents saved.”
