Two university projects recently completed by KSQ Architects were honored with 2013 AIA chapter awards.
West Side Dining Hall at Stony Brook University received honor awards from two New York state chapters. The project was awarded an Excellence in Architecture Award by the Long Island AIA chapter, and also received an Honor Award from the Westchester Hudson Valley AIA chapter. The project is an addition and renovation to a 1960s-era traditional cafeteria, and was transformed into a modern, exhibition-style 24/7 student dining venue.
The Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center at Oral Roberts University earned a Citation Award by the Oklahoma AIA. The first new building on campus in 30 years, the project serves as a venue for food, fun and fellowship. A modern, innovative design both inside and out, the building is symbolic of a new era on the ORU campus.
"We are honored to receive this recognition by our peers," said Armand Quadrini, a principal in the firm's New York office. "Both of these projects are equally deserving of AIA awards, and I'm proud to be part of such a knowledgeable, creative team."
