College Enrollment Is Rising But New Report Reveals Students Aren't Completing Their Degrees

A new report reveals many college students are not completing their degrees and certificates, despite enrollment rates rising for decades.

"Time is the Enemy: The surprising truth about why today’s college students aren’t graduating…AND WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE," show's how many of the students in states completed their degrees, broken down into different categories, including whether enrollment is full- or part-time, or at a two- or four-year institution.

The report is by Complete College America, a nonprofit founded two years ago with financing from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and others, to raise graduation rates.

“What we discovered was both alarming and compelling because we can now confirm that we need to make dramatic policy changes to ensure these students complete their degrees," said Stan Jones, president of Complete College America. "By doing so, we can secure strong economies for our states and country.”
