College dormitories were much, much nicer in 1950

Here's yet more evidence that the college dorms of yesteryear were outrageously, fist-clenchingly nice: 1950 photos of the Lafayette College's Jessie Kirby Dormitory, which not only had wallpaper and to-the-floor drapery, but also fireplaces in the library, the "rumpus room" and the dining hall—which, by the way, featured wooden captain's chairs. There are leather-tufted chairs, framed art on the walls, and a freaking vase in the foyer. Beats the bleak, popcorn-ceiling'd digs most college students in 2014 have to deal with, that's for sure.
