The vice president of student affairs at Baltimore City Community College has been chosen as the new president of River Valley Community College, the board of trustees for the Community College System of New Hampshire announced yesterday.
Dr. Alicia Harvey-Smith, with 25 years of experience in post-secondary education, was among three finalists under consideration by the search committee.
“I am honored by the trustees’ vote of confidence in my ability to lead and position River Valley Community College for greater success,” Harvey-Smith said in a news release from the trustees. “It will be very exciting to serve with the team of CCSNH presidents charged with leading change during this important period in higher education.”
Ross Gittell, chancellor of the Community College System, said Harvey-Smith is a talented leader who brings years of experience to River Valley in areas “critical to higher education today.”
At Baltimore City Community College, Harvey-Smith was responsible for initiatives in student recruitment, student retention, graduation strategies, workforce development and industry partnership, trustees said in the news release.
