Cashing “inn” on higher education’s entrepreneurial opportunities

At Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., a $12.5 million gift from the Harold Alfond Foundation helped build a 112-room inn that supplies lodging and conference space and also funds a lasting scholarship endowment. This initiative, costing $30 million, is part of a hybrid approach to the financial challenges facing colleges and universities throughout the country.
