Canvs announced Monday that the University of Central Florida and Rollins College will be formal partners in creating joint educational programming for co-workers and the community, mentorship opportunities, an internship program for companies working in the nonprofit's space and connection to all of the entrepreneurship resources on both campuses.
Canvs plans to open this summer with enough co-working space for 164 tech workers at a time. Its broader goal is to foster the creation of 5,000 tech jobs in the next decade. Canvs will take more than 17,000 square feet, and is just one tenant in the Church Street Exchange building’s new tech renaissance, which possibly will include tenants such as a brewery.
The nonprofit co-working space and entrepreneurial community — the brainchild of founders Philip Holt, V.J. LeBlanc, Jeremy Paulding and Chris Staymates — will provide tech startups with flexible workspace options, regular programming, mentorship and a variety of business development resources.
