"Building a Learning Commons Center and Data Center with Limited Funds" at UBTech2012

Armstrong Atlantic State University had a capital budget approved by their Board of Regents for $14,300,000. The majority of this amount was earmarked for a new Library/Learning Center. Due to Statewide budget reductions, this budget was cut by $9,000,000. In addition, $1,500,000 requested for a new centralized data center went unfunded.

AASU reviewed a wide range of alternative creative solutions to the problem. In this session, presenters David Carson and Don Cogdell will discuss how the projects were combined and successfully accomplished reusing and renovating existing buildings for a total cost of approximately $6,000,000.
