After attracting more riders in 2012 than it ever had, the Elevations Credit Union Buffalo Bicycle Classic on Saturday will present a ceremonial check for $230,000 to University of Colorado officials to be put to use supporting scholarships, according to a university news release.

In its tenth year, the Buffalo Bicycle Classic attracted nearly 2,500 riders and numerous event sponsors in 2012, according to Todd Gleeson, former dean of CU's College of Arts and Sciences and cofounder of the bike race.

The record donation, which will be presented to school officials at center court during halftime of the CU men's basketball game against UCLA on Saturday, will fund nearly 100 arts and sciences scholarships this year, Gleeson said in the news release.
