Brevard college rolls out massive expansion plan

Eastern Florida State College is planning a massive expansion of its Melbourne campus over the next 10 years that includes five new academic buildings and a student union.

The academic buildings in the $74.8 million plan are a Public Safety Institute now under construction, plus four other proposed buildings — a Health Sciences Institute, a technology building, a business building and a hospitality management/culinary arts building.

College President Jim Richey presented the plan Monday to the college's board of trustees, calling the announcement "a landmark day" for the college. It would turn the Melbourne campus into the de-facto hub of EFSC, which also has campuses in Cocoa, Palm Bay and Titusville.
