Education professor Barbara A. Bichelmeyer has been named interim chancellor at Indiana University Southeast, effective July 1, IU officials announced Friday.

Bichelmeyer is now associate vice president for university academic policy and planning and is director of the university’s office of online education. She also is on the faculty of the School of Education’s department of instructional systems technology in Bloomington.

She succeeds Sandra Patterson-Randles, who retires this month as chancellor at the school with an enrollment of 6,900 and 400 full-time faculty and staff. Bichelmeyer’s one-year-appointment will start as IU launches a search for a permanent chancellor.
