John A. Fallon III, who was fired as president of Eastern Michigan University after the on-campus rape and murder of a student was kept secret for 10 weeks, has been named an associate vice president at Ball State University.
Ball State trustees on Friday approved Fallon's appointment as vice president for economic development and community engagement at a salary of $146,000. His first day on campus was March 1.
Asked about Fallon's role in failing to disclose the rape and murder, Ball State spokeswoman Joan Todd said: "We are aware of John's employment history, including his time at Eastern Michigan. He was forthcoming about that challenging period and the lessons learned from it."
She added, "His most recent experience as CEO of NPower Indiana, a nonprofit, technology-focused professional services firm in Indianapolis, is particularly relevant to his new duties here."
