President Barack Obama’s proposal to allocate $8 billion for community college workforce training, outlined in this story today, could provide important benefits to Texas, including the Austin area.
That will depend, of course, on whether Congress goes along with the idea.
“In reality, between now and the election it’ll be hard for anything to get passed,” said Richard Rhodes, right, president and CEO of Austin Community College. “But I think the seed has been planted. The economy is improving and the nation has to move forward.”
Count Rhodes as a big supporter of the president’s proposal.
