Athens State Seeks Its Own Board Of Trustees

Athens State University is pursuing its own board of trustees.

University officials believe that creating a board will give the institution more flexibility when making decisions.

On Thursday, the state Board of Education approved a resolution allowing Athens State to ask the state Legislature to establish a board.

Athens State President Robert Glenn said the resolution would now have to go through a process where it is drafted into a bill and then dropped into the legislation. He is unsure when the bill will pass.
