Some area colleges have seen slight decreases in their enrollments this fall, a result of the economic downturn, according to school officials.
At Spring Hill College, enrollment dipped slightly from 1,460 in the Fall of 2011 to 1,328 this Fall, officials said.
The total number of undergraduates at Spring Hill this fall is 1,119, compared to last year’s 1,282 students.
"Similar to many other colleges and universities, we experienced a slight decline in our enrollment this Fall," said the Rev. Richard P. Salmi, president of Spring Hill. "We believe this is a result of the impact of the still sluggish economy on families."
