Alabama 2-Year College Chancellor Freida Hill At Least Temporarily Avoids Administrative Leave

Five Alabama Board of Education members wanted to place the two-year college chancellor on paid administrative leave this morning, but backed off that plan when the Department of Postsecondary Education's general counsel told them it could be in violation of the state's open meetings law because the law requires that items added to the agenda be give seven days notice to the public.

Instead, Board members Betty Peters, Stephanie Bell, Ella Bell, Charles Elliott and Yvette Richardson settled on meeting March 7 to discuss the possible termination of Freida Hill's contract, which expires Nov. 30. Those board members gave Hill low marks on many areas of her evaluation earlier this month.
