ACT, the nation’s leader in college and career readiness, has acquired Pacific Metrics Corporation, a leading provider of education technology solutions headquartered in Monterey, Calif.
Pacific Metrics will be owned by ACT but will remain a separate, stand-alone company. Its world-class psychometric software, advanced analytics capabilities and online systems will provide ACT with new capabilities to support its work while continuing to serve the needs of Pacific Metric’s own customers. ACT will provide strategic guidance.
“Pacific Metrics is known for its industry leadership and innovation, and we are extremely excited to welcome it to the ACT family,” said Jon Whitmore, ACT chief executive officer. “This move will enable ACT to better serve our customers and expand the reach of our solutions, giving us the opportunity to positively impact the lives of many more individuals. It will further our mission of helping people achieve education and workplace success.”
“We are thrilled to be joining ACT, a nationally respected organization that is leading the way in improving college and career readiness across the country,” said Bob Guerin, president of Pacific Metrics. “Our talented team and our innovative systems will truly complement the work that ACT is doing, and ACT’s backing and guidance will enable Pacific Metrics to increase our own reach and impact.”
Pacific Metrics, a research and development company, was founded over 14 years ago with the mission to bring lasting improvements to educational assessment and learning through the introduction of new technologies. It offers four major areas of products and services: online testing, automated scoring and reporting, psychometric research and analysis, and technologically advanced content development. Pacific Metrics’ solutions are used both domestically and internationally by state and government agencies and are licensed by premier testing organizations and innovative education solution providers.
“Pacific Metrics is one of the truly outstanding firms in the field of educational testing and psychometrics,” said Jon Erickson, ACT president of education and career solutions. “It has an extraordinarily talented team that has brought powerful technological innovation into the service of enhancing learning and improving the measurement of educational progress. The organization and its people are a great fit for ACT.”
Pacific Metrics was founded in 2000. It employs approximately 80 team members and has an additional office in Denver, Colorado.
