ACLU Urges CNU To Alter Protest Policy

The ACLU of Virginia is urging Christopher Newport University to revise its demonstration policy after students were denied permission to protest a visit by Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan.

The university requires students to give 10 business days notice before a demonstration on the Newport News campus. Ryan's visit Tuesday was not announced until one business day in advance, and administrators refused to make an exception to the rule.
