GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT. That is what the University of Iowa community learned when its presidential search, often riddled with controversy, finally came to an end with the appointment of Sally Mason. The sentiments of faculty and staff ranged from elation to relief.

AT OBERLIN COLLEGE ?OHIO?, ACADEMIC EXCEL-lence is a priority. On July 1, 2007, as Marvin Krislov became the college's 14th president, this dedication to creating a strong academic institute was passed on to a new leader.

The bio for Drew Gilpin Faust, Harvard's new president come July 1, 2007, says that she is an "eminent historian." In mid-February, though, she made history herself by being the first woman in 371 years to be voted president of the Ivy League university.
