John deSteiguer

During his nine-year tenure as senior vice president for advancement at Oklahoma Christian University, John deSteiguer contributed to reaching a record $110 million in donor giving. He’ll put this experience, and his previous experience at Northeastern State University (Okla.), to use as OC’s new president, effective in June. He succeeds Mike O’Neal, president since 2002.

GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT. That is what the University of Iowa community learned when its presidential search, often riddled with controversy, finally came to an end with the appointment of Sally Mason. The sentiments of faculty and staff ranged from elation to relief.

The bio for Drew Gilpin Faust, Harvard's new president come July 1, 2007, says that she is an "eminent historian." In mid-February, though, she made history herself by being the first woman in 371 years to be voted president of the Ivy League university.
