News went out late last month that the EduComm conference was taking a new name for its 2012 incarnation: UBTech. There are a number of reasons for this, but the big one is that we wanted to more closely identify our conference with our flagship University Business brand.
EduComm began in 2004, co-located with the longrunning, annual InfoComm conference for audio-visual professionals. As such, EduComm's originally had a complementary focus on the convergence of AV and IT in higher education. But as the years went by, EduComm began to expand its focus to deliver programming for the larger Univeristy Business audience.
EduComm sessions increasingly reflected the disciplines and topics covered in the magazine and it's companion web seminar series. A couple years ago, the decision was made to separate from the audio-visual conference and make the ever-growing EduComm a self-contained event. With that move came the opportunity to rebrand the conference to even more closely align with the overall focus of University Business.
And so, as we return to the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas next June, EduComm will be known as UBTech, with the tag line, "Technology Changes Everything."
We'll be looking at how technology impacts university operations in:
And we'll feature some captivating keynote speakers, including Dr. Temple Grandin and Henry Eyring, co-author of the eye-opening book The Innovative University.
The full schedule will be announced in January, but there is still time to submit speaker proposals. You can do that by going here.
We hope you'll join us June 11-13 in Las Vegas as we relaunch EduComm as UBTech.
